I Like It

When we went to the library today, he wanted to check out two copies of real life Emma Watson Beauty and the Beast. 

B: Why do you need two copies?
E: Because I like it.

The next day he watched the same film on Netflix.

B: Why did we check out two copies if you're just going to watch it on Netflix?
E: I like both. I like it a lot.

Wealth

Evan went to the bank to deposit a $33 check. He got $20 in quarters back for laundry. When they gave him $13 in cash, he smiled and said, I'm rich!

No Bumps

We were bumped on a flight for the second time. 

I like getting bumped - it's the highest salary per hour I ever earn and the inconvenience is normally disproportionally small.

Evan doesn't like being bumped - our flight time is a sacred covenant between the airlines and us that should not be changed at the last minute, at the airport, at the gate even, just for some random paper with numbers on it.

To appease, ameliorate the situation, I offered to buy him magazine:

E: Four!
B: One!
E: Two! And Parker says so.
B: Well, if Parker says so. 

Parker was not with us, not in the same state, not on the phone, not a part of this conversation.

Schedule

B: Do you have tutoring and institute tomorrow? 
E: No. Reading and class.

Cooking for One

I got home from work and Evan was microwaving something. 

B: Hey Evan, are you making dinner? 
E: Yes. My own

Urgent Help

When I was in Florida, I handled an emergency.

At 1am, Evan called down from his bedroom saying he needed my help. I go upstairs and he motions to his computer, indicating the problem. The time is still PST. It needs to be EST.

Ok Google

Evan discovered a love for the Google Home at my parents' this past Christmas. He would request music, but if it was a Disney show, then he'd add "for Parker" at the end.

Now that we have one, I check my Pandora app and find all of these new requested stations, like ABBA, Selena Gomez, and Demi Lovato.

The Day of All Days

Today is Evan's birthday. Hallelujah!

He begins telling me plans for his birthday 13 months in advance.

• My birthday party next year only 16 people
• For my birthday turn 30 I have three parties: work, friends, family, cousins

Praying over our dinner Tuesday night, Evan prayed that his birthday would be good and fun.

We had a late night yesterday after seeing "The Greatest Showman." At midnight, I told him, "Evan! It's after midnight! It's your birthday!" "Better tell Selena Gomez about that," he responded.

Christmas Time

I got a tree and set it up at the end of November. "But it's not December yet! It's November!" 

What should we get mom for Christmas? "Car cleaning towels. Police uniform. Books"
