Crowded

Evan had so many books, papers, CDs, and movies on his bed, that he took a nap on the floor.

General Conference

Watching General Conference with friends, Evan falls asleep and starts snoring. I send him a text saying, "you're snoring." His phone is not on silent. Evan wakes up, opens his phone, turns to me, and asks across the room, "what do you want?"

The Hardest Night of the Year

Daylight savings time adjustments are always rough. A random day when time (Evan's trusted, frequently checked constant) randomly shifts. It isn't natural. He doesn't like it. He doesn't trust it.

We still discuss time zones and how our parents live in a different time than our brothers than our sister. Evan asks to double check that they really have a different time at the same time.

To him, I surprisingly, casually decide to change the very clockwork of his life. And it happens late at night, sneakily, while he sleeps.

Before going to bed last night, I changed the stove, microwave, and bathroom clocks. But Evan checked his own computer, clock, and phones, and they were on the old times.

It is 11 o'clock! It isn't midnight. Jason, check your computer!

Since it wasn't 2am, it was still the old time. Evan spent an hour readjusting all of the clocks back to their proper time.

So this morning, with church starting in 30 minutes instead of 90 minutes, I restarted his phone (it updated the time) and adjusted his clock.

Evan thought this was cheating. He was not amused. We were late.

Brotherly Comparisons

Height in the Wilson family is a most valuable commodities. It was a blessed day when we each passed our mother and then father. Blair almost didn't hug me after my mission, eyeing my warily, until we got home and let the marble roll on the pan to prove he was still taller. Mackey and Parker frequently jockey over height.

Evan, unfortunately, loses many height contests. But he still cares and hates when we put him in the front row of pictures.

B: We're almost the same weight, but you're shorter.
E: I'm not shorter.
B: Are you taller or shorter than me?
E: It's close.

B: You could start making dinner
E: Why
B: So we're not late
E: I buy taco bell

Pregamming

We are heading to our cousins' for dinner in an hour and Evan is heating up a frozen meal.

B: What are you doing!?!
E: I haven't had lunch yet!!!
B: But we're going to eat in an hour. Why are you angry?
E: I'm not angry
B: Why did you yell?
E: I didn't yell
B: We will have one meal at cousins' and then another here. That's two.
E: Yeah. [Keeps opening the package]
B: Ok. Eat now and again and again
E: Good idea. Thank you.

What's another frozen dinner? I should've just let it pass. I already asked him to vacuum and he did. I need to be more patient and consider the low cost of a frozen dinner. Oh, and the "don't spoil your appetite" would not have been a relevant reasonable response.

Museums at 5pm

Living in DC changed Evan's life. For one thing, he remembers that the Smithsonian museums close at 5pm. And this is true for most other museums as well.

Therefore, whenever it is nearly 5pm, Evan checks his phone for the time and tells me that the museums are about to close.

The other day we were eating lunch at 2pm. With no plans to go near a museum.

E: Hey Brigham, museums close in 3 hours.
B: Ok. Thank you.

Angry or Happy?

Evan was being grouchy and sassy.

Me: Evan, why are you being angry?
Evan: I'm not angry. I am happy. I am great. I am better than you.
